It's too late for this year, but start thinking of who you might know who is insane enough to race in the annual soapbox derby. Next year, we enter and build a Serenity.

i'll help build and fly the thing

used to race 'em as a kid.  this would have the added benefit of not having to drive or build the one i was going to make with a friend out of a honey bucket, to look like an old coffin hotrod.

'sides it'd be way cooler in a firefly

we'd need materials, a place to build it, a trailer to haul it, and maybe more crew?

i've already got a helmet. . . .

I'll definitely help build. No flying for me.

Must attend this year's. I'm a native and have never been to the derby.

Oh you definitely have to go. Best car last year was an office cubicle.

Ooh - we know someone who just might be interested in getting involved with this.  And they've got space, tools, and a trailer.  But, they're up here in Vancouver.

My one design insistence: A pop-off primary buffer panel on a rope that can be ejected at the finish line.

When is the Soapbox Derby? Maybe we should make it a shindig.

I'll help build! Soapbox derby is awesome. It's Saturday, Aug. 25 this year, and I say go! if you  haven't been (or even if you have).

The danger would be why we only pop it off (tethered somehow) at the finish line. The driver can stand up and yell, "Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason?!"

All of us standing around can yell, "Looks like!"

We gotta.

Also - can we have a BIG RED BUTTON on there somewhere? Perhaps that could be the mechanism to pop off the tethered buffer panel?

Not just pretty, but functional! :D
Are you sure goslings can be juggled?
